MANILA August 17, 2021 - Manulife Investment Management and Trust Corporation (Manulife IM [Philippines]) recently launched the Manulife India Equity Feeder Fund, an equity unit investment trust fund (UITF) that aims to deliver long-term capital growth through investments in India, the sixth largest economy in the world. The Fund is available in PHP and USD share classes for as low as PHP5,000 and USD100, respectively.
The Fund aims to maximize total returns by investing its assets in a collective investment scheme (the “Target Fund”), which invests at least 70% of its net assets in listed equity and equity-related securities of companies that cover different sectors of the Indian economy, and which are listed on a stock exchange in India or on any stock exchange.
“India is an economic powerhouse offering investors attractive growth opportunities. With its large and young population, India is poised to deliver solid growth, supported by its domestic-driven economy and transformative reforms, especially as its vaccine manufacturing capacity has started ramping up amid the pandemic,” said Aira Gaspar, President and Chief Executive Officer of Manulife IM Philippines.
“As India’s economic formalization and digital transformation gain traction and attract more global capital, its manufacturing sector stands to gain from the current global trade disruption given its competitive labor costs and policies promoting import substitution supporting the domestic market. We believe that India presents compelling investment opportunities for investors,” Gaspar added.
Recognizing its commitment to help investors achieve their investment goals through distinct investment solutions for varied investment objectives, Manulife IM (Philippines) was named as one of the top investment houses in the country by leading Asia financial magazine The Asset in the 2021 Benchmark Research Awards.
